In a strange case, a woman donated
her organs twice to save her husband's
life. In 2005, Surat (india) based Ramesh
Patel's life turned difficult when doctrs
of the Global Hospital found him afflicted
with Cirrhosis of Liver ( very serious liver
disease).Only a liver transplantatoin could
save him. Getting a liver donor very rare. But his
wife offered a part of her liver. The trans-
plantation ws successfully done in Nov.2005.
But four years later, both the kidneys of
Ramesh Patel failed due to diabetic nephro-
pathy. The worried couple rushed again to
same hospital from Surat. Doctors advised
Mr. Patel to put on dialysis, but his wife,
Sardaben refused for dependency on dialysis.
She once again came ahead to donate one of
her kidneys, as she had fulfilled all necessary
requirements for kidney transplantation which
was done in June 2007. Ramesh Patel said with
proud " I am lucky to hav a wife who is
prepared to sacrifice her life for me". What
a great sacrifice. Sequential liver and kidney
transplantation (Lagataar ek ke baad ek) is
a rare reported Nephrologist ofthe hospital.
