Australian hockey team reaches India amid tight security

NEW DELHI: Australian hockey team arrived amid tight security here today to participate in the World Cup beginning February 28.

Security agencies has thrown a thick security blanket for the players after Indian media reported threats to sporting events made by an arm of Al-Qaeda.

The security measures were also aimed at giving assurance the players who were hesitant to compete in India following the bomb blast in Pune.

New Delhi is hosting the 12-team hockey World Cup from February 28 to March 13 and is gearing up for the Commonwealth Games in October.
