Aqeel wins All Pakistan Tennis Championship

LAHORE: Aqeel Khan downed his brother Jaleel Khan in the men’s singles final to win the All Pakistan Tennis Championship at the Model Town Club courts here.

The score-line was 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Experienced Aqeel showed his skills throughout the contest, especially in the inaugural set, to overcome his younger sibling Jaleel, however, changed his strategy in the second set. His deadly drop shots forced Aqeel to do a lot of extra physical work. Both players went with the serves till score reached 4 games all.

At this stage, Jaleel succeeded in breaking Aqeel’s service game followed by holding his own to win the second set 6-4. In the third set Aqeel showed more maturity and started playing with bit defensive approach, by remaining on base line. Slicing the ball from backhand side, making less unforced errors than Jaleel and remaining cool, Aqeel held his service games with care to win the third set 6-3.
