Read EXIF Info Data In Photos

You must have taken lots of pictures using your digital cameras but do you know that almost all digital cameras save you images with JPEG(.jpg) format with a EXIF(i.e Exchangeable Image File) data file. Am sure, most of you knows only about JPEG but not about EXIF file. So today we are going to tell you about a tool named ExifReader using which you can read that EXIF file of your images.

You must be wondering as what is this EXIF? Well EXIF means Exchangeable Image File and its a data file stored along with your every image, which you capture from your digital cameras. Basically your JPEG image file contains the information regarding scene and EXIF file contains information regarding camera setting like shutter speed, whether flash used or not, date and time, focal length, exposure compensation etc. So to see all these stored information, you can use ExifReader.



As the name suggest this tool reads EXIF file of your images. It is a very simple tool and when you run its exe file, you will see a window as shown above. On the top of window, you can see a shortcut button Open. Click on this button and then browse for any image file which you have taken from a digital camera. Alternative, you can even drag a image into this tool, to read its EXIF information.

So when you open any image, at the right side on the window you can see all the relative information regarding your camera setting at the time, when you took that image. You can have a look at following example to see how exactly it works.



So when you open any image, this tool will show you the manufacturer and model of your digital camera, Exposure Time, Date and Time, Shutter Speed Value, Flash, Focal length and much more other information regarding your image. You can even extract all this information in a text file by clicking on Information and then select save as text file or CSV text file.



Then save this text file to a desired location and you can keep all this information for any future references. Information stored in text file is very easily readable. You can see an example below.



The best part of this tool is that in addition of standard EXIF JPEG formats, it also supports several other formats like TIFF/EP format supported by CANON EOS D Series and Kodak digital cameras for professionals,the NSK-TIFF format by the Japan Newspaper Publishers and Editors Association, the TIFF-FX format for FAX by Xerox, and many other special image formats. In nutshell, it can analyse all image formats which are being supported by almost all the latest digital cameras.

The size of this tool is 353 Kb and it requires no installation. This tool is compatible with all the versions of Windows and has been tested successfully on Windows 7 Ultimate-32 bit Edition.
