Arsene Wenger has admitted he would have moved for David Beckham in the January transfer window if his Arsenal squad was not brim full of talent.

Beckham is seeking a loan move to Europe to revive his hopes of earning an England recall. Despite being 35, Beckham still carries real quality and he would also be a PR coup for the successful bidder.

Wenger feels Beckham still has the talent to compete at the highest level, but does not have the room for the midfielder.

"I would consider signing Beckham but we have Walcott, Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin and Eboue who can play on the flanks," Wenger said.

Beckham said this week that he would only consider a move to the Premier League with former club Manchester United, but his pleas are likely to fall on deaf ears.

Asked if he would consider signing Beckham, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "I don't think so with David at his age. I've never signed a player as old as that have I? Larsson only came for a month."
