Lee Westwood, the current No. 1 ranked golfer expects Tiger Woods to bounce back from a difficult 2010 with renewed vigour.

Woods returned to the course in 2010 on the back of turmoil in his private life and it appeared to wreak havoc with his game. He returned to action with a fourth-place finish in the Masters, but the wheels fell off spectacularly in the summer with a string of missed cuts and alarming spells of play.

The former world No. 1 enlisted the help of swing coach Sean Foley and he showed signs of improvement in the autumn, notably at the Ryder Cup and a play-off defeat to Graeme McDowell at the Chevron World Challenge.

Westwood knocked Woods from the top of the tree and he expects a renewed challenge from the 14-time major winner.

"You do learn more about yourself during slumps," Westwood said Westwood. "It is a tough time and you see what people are made of. You have to rebuild everything.

"He has always been a great competitor, he has won tournaments when he has not been playing his best and that is the sign of a great player and great competitor. I would expect him to be working hard to get back to where he was.

"Tiger upped everybody's game a few years ago and how to approach the sport, with working in the gym and that sort of thing. Tiger has been instrumental on people on different tours improving their games."
