Djokovic and partner Ana Ivanovic justified their status as top seeds in the mixed team event to seal a convincing 3-0 victory in Perth.

Djokovic overcame a shaky start to beat Andrey Golubev 4-6 6-3 6-1 and give Serbia an unassailable 2-0 lead.

The world No. 3 started slowly and found himself a set down against the big-hitting Golubev, but an early break put Djokovic in control of the second set, and he swiftly wrapped up the victory, dropping a single game in the final set.

Ivanovic had earlier given Serbia the lead with a 7-6(6) 6-1 win over Yaroslava Shvedova. The former world No. 1 also struggled to make her mark in the early stages, but after edging the opening set on a tiebreak, cruised through the second set to wrap up the victory.

The Serbian pair, who are childhood friends, completed the whitewash with a 7-6 6-4 win over the Kazakh duo.

British pair Andy Murray and Laura Robson begin their campaign on Monday against Italy's Francesca Schiavone and Potito Starace.
