KARACHI: The day-night final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy will be played with an orange ball.
The decision was taken during a briefing which was headed by the match-referee Anwar Khan at the National Stadium here on Wednesday.
Team management and umpires were also present on the occasion.
Habib Bank Limited (HBL) captain Hasan Raza and Pakistan International Airline (PIA) skipper Kamran Sajid mutually agreed to play with the orange ball in the final which commences from THursday (today).
Both captains had their reservations over the pink ball. They complained that it was keeping low and their players had problems sighting it.
Meanwhile, Anwar Khan told ‘The News’ that he has told both the finalists that there will be no leniency over misconduct.
“I have strictly ordered them to keep the discipline intact,” he said.
“This match will be watched all over the world so we want to send a good message to international cricketing fraternity.
“We are creating history and I want to congratulate the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on taking such a bold step.
“It’s an honour for me to supervise this historical match.”
Pakistan legend Hanif Mohammad turned up to boost the morale of the PIA team which is being looked after by his son, Shoaib Mohammad.
Shoaib Mohammad said that he wants to revive PIA as a major force once again.
“We are trying to take PIA to another level,” he said. “I am very confident that our boys will do well and lift the title as our last trophy came back in 2003.”
Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Moin Khan said that it is a perfect opportunity for players to enhance their reputations.
“The players who are in line for the national team have an opportunity to shine on the big stage,” he said.
“One display can do wonders for their careers.”
