Newcastle are bracing themselves for a fresh bid from Liverpool for Andy Carroll, with reports suggesting an offer of £35 million is being prepared.

18060 - Liverpool set to up ante for Carroll

Carroll is currently sidelined with a thigh complaint, but this has not put off the Reds who are ready to up the ante after failing with an initial bid of £30m.

There has been no word from Newcastle on the subject and Carroll was at the club's training ground as normal on Monday, but they took the decision to cancel manager Alan Pardew's press conference.

The decision to pull Pardew from the line of fire has only added to the speculation that Newcastle are considering selling their prized asset.

Tottenham have been monitoring Carroll for much of January and it remains to be seen if rival interest emerges in the final hours of the transfer window.
